Damsila Resources (Pvt.) Ltd. is a family-owned leading mining, mineral processing and export firm in Sri Lanka. Industrialist late Arthur Dalpatadu, the father of the current Managing Director of our company, established Krishna Mining Company Ceylon Ltd (KMC) in 1969, which became the pioneer exporter of phlogopite mica, silica quartz, and other minerals from post-colonial Sri Lanka. He served as the founder chairman of KMC. DRL and KMC have made major contributions to the mineral resource industry throughout the years through their collaboration.
Our Corporate Office is located in Colombo, Sri Lanka and regional offices are located in Matale and Galaha. The company operates several phlogopite mica mines in the country, with the main underground mine located in Matale District. It is also Sri Lanka’s only underground phlogopite mica mine.
Our main business interests are in mining, upgrading, and exporting phlogopite mica and silica quartz from Sri Lanka. More than 95% of all phlogopite mica exports from Sri Lanka are through Damsila Resources. We have maintained longstanding relationships spanning over four decades with some of our international customers. Founder – Mr. Authur Dalpatadu – 1907 to 1991
In 1969, the late Authur Dalapatadu founded Krishna Mining Ceylon Ltd., which currently owns and operates a large-scale silica quartz mine in Galaha, Kandy district. Silica quartz exports are conducted by Damsila Resources (Pvt) Ltd. Although KMC mined phlogopite mica up to 2004, this operation was transferred to Damsila after 2005.

Senior Finance ManagerDamsila currently operates several factories and processing centres. Our factories process and upgrade silica quartz and phlogopite mica to saleable products ensuring a high degree of product quality.
Damsila’s principal mica processing plant is located in Palapathwela, Matale District. Additionally, the company has several satellite processing facilities in the districts of Matale and Kurunegala. In Palapathwela, Damsila also maintains a phlogopite mica micronized powder production facility. This facility manufactures a phlogopite mica filler with a very high aspect ratio that is mostly utilized in the automotive plastics industry. Our mica products are exported mainly to Japan, Germany, Austria, Unites States of America, China, and South Korea.
Damsila produces high-purity silica quartz grits from 0.1 mm upwards for the international market. The company operates a silica washing plant in Galaha, Kandy district and a Silica Quartz grits production factory in Kaludawela Industrial Estate in Matale District. The company also is in the process of commissioning a high-purity silica quartz micronized powder production factory. Currently, silica quartz products are exported to Japan, China, Germany and South Korea.
